Therapy x Art
Research has shown that combining therapy with art can be effective in reducing symptoms associated with low mood, worry, improving self-esteem and communication skills, and promoting personal growth and self-discovery. Our workshops are designed to offer participants a chance to experience these benefits firsthand, and to connect with others while exploring their creativity. Workshops are designed to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through the creative process. Led by a registered psychologist and a fine arts instructor, workshops use a range of art materials and techniques to help participants express themselves and work through difficult issues in a non-judgmental and collaborative environment.
Art therapy has been shown to have a range of benefits for individuals, including:
-
Reduction of symptoms of depression and anxiety
(Reynolds, 2019; Slayton & D'Archer, 2017) -
Improved self-esteem and self-awareness (Gussak, 2017; Hinz, 2009)
-
Development of coping skills and emotional resilience
(Knill, Levine, & Levine, 2005; Malchiodi, 2012) -
Enhanced communication and social skills (Allen, 2012; Malchiodi, 2019)
-
Increased personal growth and self-discovery (Cattanach, 2017; Potash, 2016)
NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IN ART OR THERAPY IS REQUIRED!
